#BartacoSecret: Ancho Chile & Coffee Braised Short Rib Taco

Nothing says, “Hellooooo, weekend!” quite like an ice cold margarita (or three) at Bartaco. My office closed at 2 PM last Friday (score) so as soon as I got off, I hopped in the car and headed straight over to the Bartaco on Roswell Road to meet up with my friends, Alec and Erica, for an afternoon of tacos and tequila.

Bartaco Margarita: libelula joven teguila + combier liqueur d’orange + agave syrup + lime juice

We snagged a piece of spot by the fireplace and immediately ordered a large guac and tuna poke. I’m not a huge fan of raw fish, so I left that to Alec and Erica while I ate my body weight in chips. They almost fought over the last bite… so I guess it was good?

Tuna Poke: raw tuna, green + white onions, poke dressing, avocado, sesame seeds, fried ginger

Bartaco has a long list of amazing (and super unique) tacos, but my two absolute favorites are the duck and the fried oyster. However, one of my favorite things about Bartaco is the fact that they always have a special #BartacoSecret taco to try…. This time? An Ancho Chile & Coffee Braised Short Rib Taco.

We ordered a handful of each and anxiously started waiting.

From left to right: duck taco + ancho chile and coffee braised short rib taco + fried oyster taco

The duck and fried oyster tacos were outstanding as freaking usual.

Visually- I was very attracted to the secret taco and the taste test did not disappoint. The short rib was super tender and was topped with some colorful fennel, onion, and cilantro. YUM! I would order this #BartacoSecret taco again and again.

We ordered two more rounds of margaritas (TGIF) before deciding to call it a night. As we argued over who was going to call the Uber, a round of tequila shots appeared on the table- shout out to our fav manager, Sanjay! We toasted to great friends, secret tacos, and a Friday well spent…. and then sloppily piled into the backseat of the car.

If you’re looking to try a new trendy-casual spot that offers craft cocktails and fresh, delicious food, stop in one of the three Bartaco locations ITP. Already a Bartaco fanatic? Don’t forget to check back for my thoughts on next month’s #BartacoSecret taco!
