    Toyota Tailgate Season
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (“Toyota”) provided me with compensation and use of a VEHICLE for a short period of time. The opinions I have shared about this vehicle are my own.

When I turned 16 years old, my first car (shout out mom and dad!) was a Toyota Corolla. I loved that car for a lot of reasons…. I passed my driver’s license test in it, I went on my first road trip in it, and I also had my first major accident in it… That car took me on adventures AND saved my life, so when I got the chance to take the 2017 Toyota Corolla to Athens for a football game, I was SUPER excited!

I turn 26 this year (yikes…) so technology has definitely changed since the last time I got behind the wheel of a Corolla. This car seriously had EVERYTHING I needed for the perfect road trip. Before I even took this beauty out of park, I made sure to connect my phone using bluetooth so I could set up navigation and listen to my text messages hands free over the speakers. Texting and driving is a huge distraction and completely illegal in Georgia- but I like to keep up with my peeps, so this feature was probably my favorite.

Athens is only about an hour or so from Atlanta, so once I had everything set up- I buckled up, set the radio to my favorite station, and hit the road! Traffic was crazy but this Corolla would actually beep and help me maintain lane if someone tried to cut me off.

Not even bad traffic could rain on my parade, I was waving my pom poms out the window (ok, and the sun roof) as I pulled into town… what can I say? I wasn’t voted Most Spirited for nothing!

As a student, I used to wear a tailored dress and pearls to every fraternity tailgate… As an alumni, I tend to opt for a more comfortable option so I can throw the ball around and actually enjoy the game with family and friends. As soon as I parked, I quickly changed into my tailgate attire and set up camp.

This car may look small from the outside, but it has MAJOR trunk space! I was able to fit the cooler, chairs, and all of my tailgate supplies in with plenty of room to spare.

Since I no longer live on campus, my tailgate menu has undergone some major changes just like my wardrobe. Instead of a huge grill filled with burgers and hotdogs, I typically opt for something easy that I can pick up on the way (this time pizza, my fav) and lots of H2O!

There’s nothing I love more about autumn in Athens than football and tailgating; I had such an amazing afternoon cheering on my team! I seriously wished the day would never end, but knowing I got to hop back into the Corolla for my road trip home somehow made leaving a little bit sweeter.
