I’ve gotta be honest, I’ve never been a big fan of pumpkin spice. Frankly, I never understood, and still don’t fully understand, society’s obsession with it. Call me close minded, but in my eyes – pumpkins are meant for carving… not for eating, smearing on your skin, or putting in your coffee. Very unpopular opinion, I know.
Since I’m 25 now and exponentially more mature than I have been in the past, I’ve decided to be more open this year and try a few pumpkin concoctions for myself. I will preface this post by saying…. I was pleasantly surprised with my findings and can admit that pumpkin can actually be pretty amazing in the right situation…. but I still think pumpkin pie tastes like baby food. Here we go….
1. Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Cocktail: Whiskey Blue, The W Buckhead
So, I’m not basic (LOL, jk) or a big coffee drinker, so I skipped trying the typical PSL and opted for something a little stronger: the Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Cocktail mixed with Bailey’s Pumpkin Spice, Sailor Jerry Spiced rum and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The duck tacos from Cook Hall and the incredible view are what keep me coming back to Whiskey Blue at the W Buckhead week after week, and like everything else, this Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice Cocktail did not disappoint. I mean, it came with macaroons… Overall, it was super sweet and totally extra, just like me. Two thumbs up.
2. Pumpkin Pie Candle: Hazel Boutique ($15)
For anyone who doesn’t know, I’m addicted to soy candles. Seriously. Need a gift idea for me? Candle. Candle. Candle. And this Pumpkin Pie candle from Hazel Boutique is one of my favorites of all time. My apartment has never smelled more warm and cozy and it lasts FOREVER. These candles are created with the highest quality 100% natural soy wax, carefully hand wicked, and hand poured in small batches using one-of-a-kind fragrance oils. They feature a cotton wick to ensure a smooth, clean burn. Go ahead and stock up on these now, you’re going to want your room to smell like this all year round.
Available September 30 – December 20
This facial was BY FAR my fav way to incorporate a little pumpkin spice into my life. I went on a Sunday to relax and prepare for a crazy week at the radio station. It was 50 minutes long and the perfect treatment to address acne, hyper pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. First, they applied a peel composed of malic acid and pumpkin, a rich source of vitamin A, which promotes smoother, younger looking skin by increasing the rate of cellular turnover and renewal. Then, they applied a peptide infused, super emollient and hydrating mineral mask to lock in moisture and leave the skin nourished and glowing.
To put it simply, this facial made me feel like a pumpkin spice queen with super soft skin. (Ask for Kat when you make your appointment- she’s been around forever and is the best of the best!) After my facial, I laid in the sauna and pretended I didn’t have work the next day. It was freaking amazing. Overall, highly recommend.
